Deepathi Friary, School and Parish, Kavoor.......

Brothers Cherian and Namdev reached me to Kavoor by their vehicle. It was about 3 hours drive but we did not feel as we kept talking.....the climate is very warm...its like summer here....am affected a little bit....it is humid......no rains......
On the way we paid a visit to a Marian shrine very popular here....it is on the top of the hill...and devotees throughout the year pay visit......

Brothers Cherian and Namdev pose with me......

Church is dedicated to Our Lady and inside the church they have kept statues of Mother Mary....different names...it is beautiful to see....
Story is told about a priest who wanted to dig a tubewell on top of the hill....the area is known for rocks.....he tried and could not succeed....he requested the bishop who asked him to pray for one hour and pray to Mother Mary.....he did it and after that he dug a tube well....a lot of water....even today...

Deepathi Capuchin school....it has served the society for 40 years....for last few years the numbers went down,,,,now slowly picking up....

Adoration sisters which is one of the biggest congregations in India with about 5000 members are working in our school

There are about 100 families close by and in the substations......the friars take care of their pastoral needs

There are 200 boarders who stay on the campus....olden days they used to run a boarding but discontinued ,,,or less numbers....

Most of these boys are Christians.....belonging to different denominations.....
The sisters run girls boarding with around 100 girls.....some girls are sent by the government from the poor families....
