Visiting Mumbai

After the CCMSI meeting i flew with the Provincial of Maharashtra Br, Amrut to Mumbai. Spent two days with the friars and then went to visit my family. It was wonderful to see dear and near ones for two days. I had the opportunity to celebrate one of the Novena Masses to our Lady of Vailankanni. If you do not about Our Lady of Vailankanni, i think i must write something. The shrine is in Madras on the sea shore where mother Mary appeared to a Non Christian and since then the devotion spread all over India. The feast is celebrated along with the Nativity of BVM. In some dioceses it is celebrated in grand and big way. The parishes organize 9 days Novenas for which nine different priests are invited to speak on the special theme. This year being the year of Faith, most of the Parishes have selected themes based on Faith. A lot of programs and well planned liturgy, young and old joining in the Novenas with flowers to present to BVM at the end of the Mass. You can see the entire parish is involved in celebrating these nine days. Many of them fast and give up drinks and meat. Wonderful indeed!
Many faithful travel to Madras to be participating in these nine days Novenas. May Mother Mary bless her children. A lot of Faith in Mother Mary in this part of the World.
I am flying back to Rome tomorrow after three weeks of visit to Uganda and India!
