Feast of St. Luke

REFLECTION
Today's Gospel speaks of Jesus sending his disciples out on a mission. It is appropriate for this feast of St. Luke, because Luke, especiallyin the Acts of the Apostles, describes the early missionary andapostolic experiences of the infant Church and the zeal of its membersin bringing the Good News of Jesus to all over the Roman Empire.Luke was called to travel as St. Paul's companion, recording the birthof Christianity and suffering martyrdom in Achaia shortly after Paul'sdeath. We too are called, each in a different way, to go and bearfruit, to enter a relationship of love with Jesus, as faithful andactive disciples.Today, as we commemorate St. Luke's dedication to Christ and hisdesire to proclaim the Gospel, let us remember the song that he andhis companions sang long ago: "My mouth will speak the praise of the Lord, and all flesh will bless his holy name forever and ever.( From DAILY HOMILY)
