Varunodaya Fraternity, Vannampatti

Six hours drive from Kotagiri to Vannampatti close to Dindigul. I reached around 8 pm to this friary. The friars were waiting anxiously for me. The driver made some four mistakes by taking wrong routes. Finally we reached safe and sound.

This friary has 39 acres of land. Coconut farm but as you see it...its all dry as there has not been rains for last two years.....all wells and tubewells are gone dry...ground water also is no more....people dig tube wells but end up spending huge amount of money without a drop of water

Our friary has about three wells but no water....all coconut trees are dying.....a local woman who works on the farm and looks after the cartels.

The village has about 800 families out of which 340  are catholic families. There are four to five churches belonging to different caste groups....its a tough job for the parish priest....there are also two big substations where the presence of the catholics is sizeable. Most of our catholics are poor and the drought has added more trouble to their condition

One of the oldest churches in the villages
The Parish runs a Tamil medium school. Below you see the Principal. They have 300 students. Our friar is a correspondent....
Our three friars in center is Br. Luis, guardian and parish priest, deacon and Peter Raj

This place is surrounded by some small and big hills
