It has been a Philosophy House since many years. It was a common study house for the United Province of India. Many friars have studied here and have a sweet memories of this lovely abode of wisdom. This formation house is in the midst of the Town. When we began the formation house it was outside the town but today all around there is development. Kerala state is developing all their towns and many well known industries are now settling in Kerala.
There are 75 brothers from three Syro Malabar provinces and also four other students. The house is full and there is a lot of energy and life in the house. The brothers are all talented and motivated too. I spoke to them for one hour....they were all interested to know about the Order and its growth and many events happening on the international level.
The rooms are not enough for the growing number of students for Philosophy.....at present there is an extension work going on...the project is sponsored by the Economic solidarity.....the work is in full swing....the brothers need this space.....
Friars Gasper and Francis....are the spiritual force of the community....their presence is a big help for our young brothers....they are well inserted and integrated in the community...they are the guides and directors......Francis has a licentiate in Franciscan Spirituality
The refectory is house full......the young ones eat and recreate....you just can't hear anything....there is life and laughter......young and full of hopes and promises....God bless them....Pray for their perseverance .....
He is all over with this walking stick....he loves the company of the young students...he is 87 years old and says he would like to complete century....Br. David Francis, the rector....a man of experience...a well accepted teacher.....fatherly figure for the young students....
The garden is amazing....all green and now the students have planted many flower plants which will bloom in August.......Mother Mary blesses the Friars from the Garden
As you enter the campus of Calvary, you are greeted with the scene of Calvary.....it is beautiful and attractive.....life-size statutes.....
The front side of Calvary.....surrounded by trees in the midst of a growing City of Trichur.....it is the second largest city in Kerala
The Chapel where the locals come for the daily eucharist....a lot of pastoral work is carried out by the friars with the permission of the Parish priest....a sunday school is run by the friars for the local children.....many people come every day for confessions and counseling......The community has one friar every day sitting in the parlor for confession and counseling....it is very good idea to be available for the people....young and old friars take turns to be available every day...Keep up brothers....
The social centre....Calvary has many centre like this in the town....a lot of work is carried out.....there is a full time friar...many poor people are the ones who profit from these social works.....
Concluding session with the friars.....we had a dialogue with the fraternity....there are 12 in number.....
This is Br. Ranjith who is an actor and producer of Malayam spiritual telefilms and films...He has to his credit about 24 telefilm and now he has produced a film on the life of San Damien.....it is doing very well in Kerala....he has many plans and dreams....
Thomas....is involved in counseling the whole day....he is well know face in and around Trichur....
