Visitation of St.Thomas Capuchin Provincialate, Aluva - 1977

Aluva town where the Provincial curia is situated....its about 15km away from Kochi airport and 2kms from railway station..
 In 1975 chapter of the United Province decided to build a separate provincial curia and 3rd July, 1977 the new provincial curia was inaugurated. It served as the Provincial curia of St. Joseph until the bifurcation in 1999 into two provinces of St. Joseph and ST. Thomas. Till 2002 St. Joseph used it as their provincial curia meanwhile the new provincial curia was getting ready in Kottayam. In 2002 the provincial curia of St. Thomas shifted to the present house from Nazareth friary close by…


The Church and the friary.....everyday about 30 people come for Mass....its not a parish but neighbors would like to attend Mass in the friary....

 It is time to work and play.....shuttle is the game which keeps the friars of the curia fit

 Terrace garden,,,,,they get most of the vegetables from this garden on the terrace....


 It is a retreat centre....every month one week they conduct a retreat for religious....in summer they get around 75 participants and rest of the months....30 t0 40 participants....

 Bishop Paul Hinder paid a surprised visit to the Provincial curia along with the auxiliary Bishop of the local diocese...he is on visit here to Kerala

 A fraternal dialogue....the entire community was present to welcome our brother bishop


 The entire provincial community....friars Jacob, Sijo, Raphy, Provincial , Raphele...senior most friar....he is 95 years old....hale and hearty.....he recognized me.....knows my name too....good in memory....well taken care of by the friars....
