Padua Capuchin Ashram, Periyaram

As you enter the compound of the friary it looks as if we are entering into a resort house. It is not so. It is very simple inside. All the houses here in Kerala are designed and built such a way that the one who sees for the first time gets the above impression. These are typical Kerala Homes.....
This house is beautifully designed and built. It is a project which was sponsored by one Italian friar in the name of his parents. The friary is built on top of the hill and overlooks the surrounding town.
The house surrounded by rubber trees......
There are three friars....two of them are parish priests in nearby parishes....one comes to stay and the other one comes every week.....Br. Marian is the superior......there are 8 boarders .....the province has started a boys home ........
This is the entrance of the friary....every day some local people come for the Eucharist.....during the day some come for counseling and confessions too...

This is the study room for the boys and the refectory common for both boys and friars.....the boys come from poor families and they are given free education....all of them are bright and intelligent....

This is their dormitory ......well maintained and kept clean....there is a regent from the diocese who is looking after the boys....
The inside view of the friary....
