St. Lawrence Church Sinquerium, Goa

This church and friary is on the top of the hill overlooking the Arabian sea...this church is dedicated to st. Lawrence, the martyr......every year in the month of August his feast is celebrated....he is the patron of seamen.....they come all in big numbers....the capuchins have been looking after this parish for a number of years....the Diocese of Goa is the owner of the properties....it is an ideal place for a retreat house or something else.....on sundays a lot of people come for the Mass.....everyday there are about 30 people who come for the Mass....
 It is an old church built in 18th century.....the corridors of the friary are long and beautiful....
 on the wall you can see the art work from the lives of Jesus.....well done....it attracts the attention of anyone..they are over 2 centuries old....

 In the church you have some old statutes of the saints....they too are very old and really beautiful to admire...

 The tabernacle is wooden one....but beautifully carved....there are pictures of all four evangelists and angels....

 The sanctuary is typical Portuguese ..... you will find in all the churches of Goa, Mumbai and Bassein.....

 The cross in front of the church attracts everyones attention....tourist come in a big number....
 The Jail.....which is now shifted to some other place....it is on the sea shore....
 vow what a scene.....everyone says so.....water.....and the hill......

 Br. Rodney is the new parish priest....a simple friar....he is young and has a lot of ideas....


Br. Tony Barros....is another friar who is helping the parish priest....he also cooks in the house....they don't have cook....he does al the works....cleaning the house....the house and corridors are very clean....the church and sacristy is absolutely clean and well maintained....he is found always doing something....he gives you a warm welcome and sings songs of welcome as well as departure....he has a great experience of working among the Lepers....in North India...

 Two of them.....go hand in hand....i stayed here for one night and a day,,,,,it was good to be with them,,,,
