Mercy: to set free those who are in sin

yesterday while preaching on the Godpel of the day I preached on the theme of Mercy. Fr. Cantalamessa has released a book on the theme of mercy and he gave me a copy of it. I went through the entire book as I have to preach a retreat for a group of religious. I made use of ideas which are excellent. The examples given are very apt and fitting to the theme. The main thought of yesterday's gospel was to preach the good news. If the good news is not experienced by me personally then I cannot be a good news of mercy n compassion. The message was to set others free from all bondage  of sin and slavery. If all of us could give hand to set free those who are under the yoke of sin and show them the light of life, I am sure the mercy of God will touché their hands and minds.
Many of those people who are suffering from emotional and psychological sickness are the first ones to be touched by Gods mercy. They live under the burden of not being forgiven and be forgivers is the result of their sickness which has no medication.
I know one person who for years suffered from some kind of sickness which no one was able to diagnosis. He visited all the possible doctors and all said that he was not having any physical ailment. Finally turning to the Lord he attended a charismatic retreat and it is there that he revealed of some unforgivness on his part towards his two younger brothers. They were land lords and had sufficient wealth and according to him his brothers took a big amount of property and monies. He could not relate and not even talk to them. They had not spoken to each other for years. All family celebrations were not attended by anyone of them. The fruit of the retreat was reconciliation and disappearance of his sicknesses. Mercy and forgiveness opens the doors of gods grace for us.
